May is ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) awareness month and to mark it Spoonie Village has spent several years running a #ChronicIllnessAndME challenge on instagram, encouraging those with ME and other chronic illnesses to respond to a different prompt every day throughout the month.

2020

However, for 2020 we wanted to do something BIGGER! So, at 3am (when all good ideas happen) Hayley came up with Forget ME Not!

For us, the phrase perfectly captures the feelings of invisibility felt by so many suffering from ME/CFS, the feeling of being forgotten. It's also a really great way of reminding people that ME exists for people outside of the awareness month, that it's a constant for thousands of people. It's also a really pretty flower, so the visuals are instantly recognisable!

Obviously 2020 wasn't the best of years for pulling off huge projects (like the one that had emerged from Hayley's head in the middle of the night), but we weren't going to let it go to waste!

So for May 2020 we teamed up with designer, friend, and wonderful human Jess Sharp to create our first Forget ME not graphics, and she knocked it out of the park!

But it seemed a shame to us that her amazing work would only be confined to our social media channels, so we had an even better idea!

That's when we got in touch with Action For ME, one of the UK's leading ME support charities. They hold a special place in our hearts, since they provided Hayley with much needed advice and support when she was first diagnosed.

We pitched the idea of a joint fundraising project to them, and they loved it!

So we set to work designing and promoting the t shirts you see above, and it turned out that you loved them too!

In just 2 weeks, we sold over 100 shirts and raised a total of almost £1450, split 50:50 between us and Action For ME!
